Be Sure to Understand What Type of Fluid Your Brake Systems Requires

If you have never worked on your vehicle's brake system before you may not even realize that it is powered by the fluid. Your brake fluid is a hydraulic fluid that resides in a reservoir under the hood of your car, truck, or SUV. While similar to oil, it is different. You want to always make sure to replace it with the proper brake fluid and nothing else.

When you press the brake pedal the master cylinder forces brake fluid through to the system to the calipers which are where the brake pads reside. The transfer of force from the brake fluid flowing to the calipers causes them to compress and the brake pads to make contact with the rotors. The friction created by the pads is what slows your vehicle to a stop.

If you have any other questions about your brake fluid or your braking system in general, then feel free to ask one of the experts here in our service center at German / Asian Concepts.
