Scratches? Tips for Applying Touch Up Paint for Osceola Vehicle Owners

Scratches on your vehicle can be just like scratches in your skin – you’ll find them and often not even be sure where they came from. Unlike scratches in your skin, they can turn into far more severe problems if left alone. Let’s take a look at how to apply touch up paint to prevent rust problems and ugliness.

Regardless the severity, the first thing to do is use warm water and soap to clean up scratch. Following this, you’ll want to thoroughly dry the area.

Next, depending on how deep the scratches, you’ll want to use either 220 grit sandpaper, or 600 grit sandpaper if the scratches penetrated clear to the primer. Sand lightly until the area is smooth. There is no need to remove material, only to even it out. You may need to apply a small amount of primer, and sand it smooth once more.

Using a match stick, toothpick, fine brush or other precise tool, apply touch up paint to fill the scratch. Once it dries, you may need to very lightly even it with a little bit more sanding, but you should avoid this if it isn’t necessary.
